Using Data to Visualize Austin's Housing Crisis
CasaGraphica is an open source, open participation project created by the Center for New Liberalism’s Austin Chapter aimed at elevating the quality of discourse related to the Austin Housing Crisis by making the data behind it and the analysis of it more accessible and understandable.
Our data archive contains high quality datasets sourced from the US Census Bureau, the City of Austin and other reliable sources, formatted, organized and simplified specifically for Austin users. This formatting makes these large datasets more immediately useful and easier to navigate, hopefully encouraging their use by advocates.
Our goal is to create compelling infographics to bolster an argument for increased housing construction in Austin, but participants and users should use this data and chart/image gallery however they see fit, incorporating this data into whatever content or work they choose.
Hopefully data and objective facts can steer our conversations as we all do our best for the city we all love.
